Party structures

How PDP is organised

PDP is built from the ward upwards. Every level of the party has officials answerable to the members who elected them.

Organizational structure

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party flows from the Party Leader to the three principal offices — the National Chair, the National Treasurer and the Secretary General — each supported by its own portfolio holders.

Party organs

There is hereby established the following organs of the Peoples Democratic Party.

  1. National Delegates Convention

    NDC

    Organ 1

    The supreme organ of the party. It elects national officials, adopts and amends the party constitution, and sets the overall policy direction of PDP.

  2. National Governing Council

    NGC

    Organ 2

    The senior policy organ between conventions. It ratifies decisions of the National Executive Committee and oversees implementation of NDC resolutions.

  3. National Executive Committee

    NEC

    Organ 3

    Directs the affairs of the party day to day, approves budgets, and oversees the secretariat, branches and party discipline.

  4. The Summit

    Organ 4

    The top consultative organ bringing together the Party Leader and principal officials for strategic direction, coalition matters and political decisions.

  5. National Secretariat

    NSC

    Organ 5

    The administrative engine of the party, headed by the Secretary General and Executive Director, running operations, records and member services.

  6. Party Parliamentary Group

    PG

    Organ 6

    All PDP members serving in the National Assembly and the Senate, coordinating the party's legislative agenda and positions in Parliament.

  7. Young Democrats Convention

    YDC

    Organ 7

    The youth league of the party, mobilising and representing young members and championing youth policy within all party organs.

  8. Women Democrats Convention

    The women's league of the party, advancing women's leadership, representation and gender-responsive policy across the party.

  9. Branches

    County, constituency and ward branches — the grassroots foundation of PDP, where members are recruited, organised and represented.

Constituency and ward

Each constituency has a chairperson, secretary, treasurer and interest-group representatives, supported by ward committees that carry out recruitment, civic education and mobilisation. Constituency and ward officials are elected by members registered in that area and confirmed by the county executive.
